Board of Trade website
embraces cultural diversity
The Brampton Board of Trade celebrated Brampton Board of Trade Day on October
21, 2003 with the official launch of a new and exciting feature of the Board's
- the inclusion of Brampton's top three languages
of Punjabi, Portuguese and Italian (along with English and French).
The Brampton Board of Trade is extremely proud of this new feature, developed
by Board of Trade member WaudWare Incorporated, as it makes us the first
and only Board of Trade or Chamber of Commerce in Canada to publicly recognize
the broad diversity of its community.
The BBOT invested significant time and money into this new feature, and hopes
it will serve as a significant first step towards establishing positive, cross-cultural
relations. The Brampton Board of Trade is the "Voice of Business for Business",
and this helps us to speak in the many voices of our community of Brampton.
"The City of Brampton has a significant immigrant population, and so the
translation of significant portions of our website is the first tangible step
The Brampton Board of Trade is taking to publicly recognize and embrace the
cultural diversity of our city," says Board of Trade President Michael
Collins. "We want to send the message that The Brampton Board of Trade
speaks the language of business, which transcends the differences of our languages
and cultures across our city."
The languages of Punjabi, Portuguese and Italian were chosen as these languages
are the top three spoken in the community, other than English. A section of
the website was also translated into French as it is Canada's second official
language. The Board of Trade must also thank Ajit Weekly for generously sponsoring
the Punjabi translations.
We invite all to visit the website at www.bramptonbot.com.
